Peanut Butter Cake with Crumb Topping and Chocolate Glaze

Delicious peanut butter cake with a sweet crumb topping and drizzled with chocolate.

My sister actually came up with this recipe back in 2011, when my blog was just a baby.  I shared it way back then, but, sadly, the majority of the people on the planet missed it. The picture was taken by my sister's cell phone and it was let's just say..less than appealing.

No slack given to my sister. My photos were not exactly drool worthy back then either.  However, this cake is really delicious and it always bugged me that it never got the attention it deserved.

So, today, we are giving it another show!


We start with your standard yellow cake mix. You will need the standard yellow cake mix ingredients except the oil or butter. Whichever you cake mix calls for. Replace it with peanut butter and bake.

Next, you are topping it with a sweet,crumb topping and then, a chocolate glaze is drizzled on top. It's good stuff, my friends.

Get a glass a milk and grab a piece..you will not be disappointed!

On a completely different note...I will be away from the blog until next Monday. I'm taking some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Peanut Butter Cake with Crumb Topping

Ingredients (Serves: 8)
    FOR CAKE
    • 1 box-yellow cake mix with ingredients
    • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
    FOR CRUMB TOPPING
    • 1 cup graham cracker crumbs
    • 1/2 cup powder sugar
    • 1/4 cup stick butter
    FOR GLAZE
    • 1/4 cup powder sugar
    • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
    • 3-6 TBSP milk
    • 1 TBSP butter, melted
    Instructions
    FOR CAKE
    Preheat over to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 baking dish.
    Mix all ingredients on cake mix box into mixing bowl, EXCEPT oil ( or butter, depending on your cake mix). Replace with 1/2 cup peanut butter. Mix ingredients until well combined.
    Pour into pan and bake according to box directions. (approx 25-30 minutes)
    Cool cake completely before adding topping/glaze.
    FOR CRUMBLE TOPPING
    Mix graham cracker crumbs, powder sugar and butter in a bowl with pastry cutter until crumbly. Sprinkle on top of cake.
    FOR GLAZE
    Whisk together powder sugar, cocoa powder, butter and milk until smooth. Adding/subtracting milk for desired consistency.
    Drizzle on cooled cake.
