Pot Roast {Crock Pot Version}

This is new for me.  Using a crock pot is still pretty new to me.  I am beginning to use it a bit more (much to my Mother's delight) and finding it very easy to use.

Now, Pot Roast?  Don't laugh...never made it.  Nope. Never.  We aren't huge red meat eaters, so, if never really occurred to me. But, with my new found crock pot ability..I figured..hey, why,not? A little red meat sounded really tasty.

This recipe is pretty basic, so, you can add, subtract, any type of seasoning you would like. I want to point out though, it does take quite a bit of time.  So, if you eat around 5-6 pm, be prepared to start it early!


Crock Pot Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • 1-2 lb chuck pot roast
  • 2 carrots
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp rosemary
  • salt/pepper, to taste preference

Instructions

  1. Place celery and carrots at the bottom of crock pot. Season roast with salt/pepper/rosemary and place into crock pot on top of veggies.
  2. Pour beef broth over top of roast. Cover. Cook on low for 10-12 hours or on high for 6-8 hours or until roast is tender.
Prep Time: 00 hrs. 15 mins.
Cook time: 06 hrs. 00 mins.
Total time: 6 hrs. 15 mins.

  1. I love my mom's pot roast--the sad part is I can't find what cut she used (English Roast?) at my grocery store and so far none of my substitutions have come out right--it's a quest now! :P
