Deep Dish Pizza

October 20, 2013

This is not what  this pizza was suppose to be.  It was suppose to be stuffed pizza. It turned out to be be deep dish.  Let me clear this up.

Stuffed pizza is a Chicago staple.  If you live in the Chicago-land area, or visited perhaps just once in your life or will be visiting at anytime..stuffed pizza is something you need to have or should of had and will not forget once you do. Cleared that right up, didn't I?

OK, you have your crust, which is thin on the bottom and thicker on the sides. then, your fillings plus a boat load of cheese.  Like, cheese oozing out of the sides..it's amazing.  Then, your sauce tops it off.  Bake it up in a deep pie dish and you've got stuffed pizza.   My crust was thicker than I would of liked.  Hence, less cheese, more crust.  That gives you deep dish pizza.  Just has delicious as stuffed, just, not stuffed...it's deep dish. Some may call it pan pizza.

Either way..it's delicious and that's why I wanted to share it today.  No worries..I am still working on getting the stuffed version down pat and will share!

{I used my homemade pizza dough recipe that can be found right here and is also linked in the directions for this dish.  If you have a preferred pizza dough homemade recipe or would like to use a refrigerator version, that would work also.}
