Butterscotch Kit Kat Brownies

Halloween was just about 2 weeks ago, right?  Do you have any candy leftover? I'll be honest. We don't. It's long gone. However, any candy that doesn't get eaten here within about 2-3 days gets sent to Mr Plain's work.  He is a teacher.  He puts a bowl of it on his desk and it's pretty much gone by third period (he's a high school teacher).   It just makes life here a bit easier.   I'm not asked a million times a day for candy by my kids and if it's not here, I can't eat it either.  Too tempting!



Before it vanished, I manage to collect a few Kit Kat bars and make these amazing brownies.  They are so simple to make and packed full of the candy bars, which are awesome in brownies, by the way.
Oh yes, and the butterscotch?  It's a perfect way to top off these delights.
These are super fudgy. so, make sure to have your glass of milk ready for them!

Butterscotch Kit Kat  Brownies
Adapted From Shugary Sweets
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Baking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 12-16 brownies

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 10-12 Kit Kat candy bars- mini version
  • 11 oz  butterscotch baking chips
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Grease an 8 in baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl,  beat together sugar, butter, vanilla and eggs.  Add in flour and cocoa powder and beat until combined.
  3. Press candy bars into batter.
  4. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes on clean.
  5. Let brownies cool.
  6. Melt butterscotch chips in microwave  or in saucepan over low heat.
  7. Spread on top of cooled brownies.
  8. Let them cool completely before cutting.
