Homemade Hair Detangler

August 14, 2015

A couple of my kids can be a little feisty when it comes to hair brushing.  They wake up with major bed head and some tangles and then, fight me when it comes to taking a brush to it.

So, enter, some hair detangler. Or, some store bought versions are called "bed head spray".  Do you use it? We love it.  It's a lifesaver with them feisty kids of mine.  After going through, more than I can count, bottles of the store bought kind, I decided to give a homemade version a go.

Here's what you do:
You simply mix 1 part hair conditioner with 2 parts warm water.  For example, I mixed 4 oz conditioner with 8 oz water and filled up 12 oz spray bottle.   I tried just shaking the bottle, but, it was still too thick.  So, I opted for using my mixer and it worked like a charm.  But, it's totally up to you when it comes to the consistency and whatever mixing option you prefer.

The type of conditioner is also, up to you. I used a no dye, natural kids conditioner for ours. But, any type should work fine.   A simple, natural alternative to the store bought version and works great.

A total success for us!
